I see that a lot of recent threads happen to close relatively quickly before any actual resolution is found. Why do threads such as totalfreedom.boards.net/thread/64537/tf-accept-donations (TF Donations) and totalfreedom.boards.net/thread/64544/why-ownership-policy-deleted (Ownership policy deleted) get closed to quickly? It is apparant that the discussion has not lead anywhere, so why the need to close it? If you believe that the tone of the arguments were off-putting, then why not moderate the thread instead of entirely closing it off for further discussion? The thread about TF donations got closed with the two remarks:
"im gonna bypass the lock so i can tell you to please shut the fuck up, thank you"
&
"If your only input lately has been “say goodbye to TotalFreedom” or “it’s dead”, then quit being a hypocrite and leave lmao. The fact that some people stick around for months just to make the same remarks prove that the servers still thriving."
There was no explaination as to why the thread got closed - the closing statement by Zaid was more or less an invitation for further conversation on the matter, but since the thread was closed within 24 hours there was no real end to the conversation. Why the need to end it?
Same thing goes for Polaris Seltzeris 's thread on the deletion of the ownership policy - Seth promptly closed the thread (I presume?) after saying that Robin would take over as owner in case of his absence, thus not giving Wilee or anybody else for that matter a chance to respond. This is nothing less than censorship. Now I am not arguing for the case that Seth did this in a malicious attempt to silence any further discussion on the matter, but I still don't see why there was a need to end it. If people are breaking the forum rules, then it is the forum mods' job to moderate the thread (as Polaris Seltzeris noted in his thread and the comments still haven't been removed), and not close what was otherwise a needed discussion.
